World MRSA Awareness Month – October

The global theme for World MRSA Awareness Month is “The MRSA Epidemic – A Call to Action”. MRSA is the number one pathogen that kills more patients than AIDS and is spreading in the community. Healthcare-acquired MRSA infections are preventable and in the US are 84% of all MRSA infections, but in the US community-acquired (CA-MRSA) is not a reportable disease. We need transparency and the WHO must demand that all countries report MRSA infection and death rates and release the data on a public website.
